New Zealand Day - Kia Ora!

Today we took part in the activities that our partner school sent for us. We loved it so much we added a few activities of our own also. First we looked at Maori tattoos and created our own Maori face masks! Next we learnt how to sing a Maori song, it was tricky but we sounded great in the end!

In the afternoon we created Koru fern pictures. Koru is the name of our blogging partners class. We used pastels and bright colours to make them stand out. We also listened to a Maori Myth and created a 'fire bird' from the story. We used clay to make some bone necklaces, lots of us used the Koru symbol as inspiration. Finally we learnt how to count to 10 in the Maori language. Jack got it very quickly, ask him how it goes.

We had a fantastic day and hope that we can stay in touch with our new friends in New Zealand!
